Funky Foto Contest Week 56

What type of duck is this…just kidding! I really don’t care about the duck (is that a duck?), I really do care about where this guy is choosing to live. This weeks question is…where is this lagoon? What’s the name of this project? This weeks winner will finally be the recipient of the Otake Japanese gift card that couldn’t be given away a few weeks ago. All the rules of the road are available to view on the left hand margin as well as on the bar above. The winner along with all other correct answers will not be published until Monday morning. All jokes, quips, irreverent banter and all wrong answers will be published immediately. Good luck and have a great weekend!

The bartender says “Hey! where did you come from?”
The duck says “I’m working the construction site across the street”.
And the bartender says, “Well why are you working construction when you could be making millions in the circus?”
And the duck said “What would the circus want with a brick laying duck?”

  7. A woman walks into a bar and the bartender says “Hey where’d you get the pig?”
The women says “This isn’t a pig it’s a duck”

  15. Francis D. says:

Lantern Cove (aka our old neighborhood)!

  16. Francis D. says:

Btw, I think that’s a goose and they’re usually flying (and honking) around FC when the temps change, heading toward warmer places. FC is just a stop-over for them.

  17. Lantern Cove.

  18. SteveTinFC says:

It’s not Schooner Bay?? Wow … then I don’t know where that is.

  19. SteveTinFC says:

Re Francis’ comment, actually FC is no longer just a stop-over for the Canada Geese. They are starting to make Foster City, San Mateo, and other places in the Bay Area their home year-round. We’ve been inundated with complaints about the Geese, and there’s not much you can do to eradicate them. They’ve been chewing up the grass big-time, and they leave their “guano” (droppings) all over the place. You can’t kill them, but you can capture the eggs (all regulated by State Fish & Game).

Based on those complaints, our Parks & Recreation department has hired the services of a “goose chasing” company that chases the geese away from our parks with trained dogs. We can’t control where they go, but at least they are not chewing up the City parks, which parents and other park users have indicated a great degree of gratefulness and relief about.

Also, the City has agreed to fund 100% of the cost to chase them away from Foster City schools as well, even though that is not the City’s financial or operational responsibility.

It’s a tough situation, but our parks are in better shape as a result. For more info about the goose control program, go to
