Catamaran Park

Maybe the most identified aspect of Foster City has been it’s gorgeous parks. Pretty much everthing you could want is available in these expansive areas and the City does a marvelous job maintaining them. Beginning today and running each Saturday for awhile FC blog will run these little photo essays about each of them. Today is the large Catamaran Park located at the corner of Shell and, where else, Catamaran. Love that waterfront too! Here’s a Google maps link for your viewing pleasure:

Have a great weekend!

  1. for those of us who dont know foster city that well, it would be nice to have a link to google maps of where these lovely locations are exactly located.

  2. Your wish is my command. Thanks for the suggestion!

For everyone’s info, Catamaran Park will be undergoing a facelift over the next 12-18 months. The bulkhead that keeps the park from falling into the lagoon will be redone. There has been significant erosion on the beach, so that bulkhead will help keep that erosion from continuing.

The thing that people will see much more readily, however, is the installation of a synthetic turf soccer field and track. That’s right, it will be Foster City’s first running track for joggers, with 2-3 lanes. The synthetic turf is partially funded by both the Peninsula Youth Soccer Club and the Foster City AYSO. It is in the final stages of design. It is expected to be constructed next year such that by Fall of 2009 the soccer field will host its first soccer game.

Finally, the basketball court will have lights installed on it to allow residents to play evening basketball games. This capital improvement program was approved by the City Council in FY 2007-2008. A description of what will take place can be found on the City’s website starting on page 31 of this PDF file … .

Just thought I’d add to the info Jim has provided. It’s a beautiful park, and it will only get better!!
